Joanne Gothard is an Associate Attorney at Carroll Law. Joanne practices in all areas of family law managing cases including divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, adoption, guardianship, and domestic violence restraining orders. Her extensive knowledge of the complexities of family law practice stems from years of working in various capacities with clients. She began her career a paralegal, transitioning to a Law Clerk, Certified Law Clerk and a Judicial Extern. This practical experience informs her knowledge of the courts and allows her to help clients navigate the family law system. Joanne is passionate about advocating for her clients’ needs. With her guidance, compassion, and effective communication she zealously assists clients in solving their problems quickly and efficiently.

Joanne earned her law degree, with great distinction, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where she was admitted with a full-ride academic, merit-based scholarship. While in law school, Joanne served as both a writer and editor on the law review and as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant. She also served as a legal extern at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California and the California Third District Court of Appeal and earned multiple Witkin Awards for highest class grade.

Prior to joining Carroll Law, Joanne obtained family law experience and knowledge working with other reputable firms. A Sonoma County native, Joanne is enthusiastic about working with people in the community and loves everything the area has to offer. Outside of the office you can catch her walking her dogs, attending a concert, or enjoying a good book.
